Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC-L26X1 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV CustomerReview

This is a great little television. It was very well packaged and very easy to set up. I would probably really rate this TV 4 and 1/2 stars if I could, because although the picture is quite good it is not perfect. We have another 26″ 720p TV (Sharp) and I would rate that one slightly better. You need to tweak the settings a bit on the Panasonic in order to reduce fading when viewed from the side, although the picture is very good when viewing straight on or at a slight angle. My 26″ Sharp is slighly better for side viewing. The picture from my Panasonic Blu-ray on the Panasonic TV is excellent. I love the Ipod adaptor – it works great. Sound is adequate from the TV – loudness is fine and sound is totally acceptable. Since, I am running this TV through separate speakers I was not concerned about the TV speakers.

This TV sits in a cabinet and just fits, so the controls on the side are useless for me. I only use the remote – which is pretty straightforward and works fine.

A prior reviewer had a cautionary note about 26″ 720p TVs and I am not sure why. As noted both this TV and my 26″ Sharp are great. 720p is more than adequate for a 26″ TV. I also have a 4 year old 30″ 720p Sharp that has an excellent picture and a 1080p 46″ Mitsubishi. You definitely need to go to 1080p for a larger screen size, but not for a 26″. This prior review also noted, “I found the image highly variable from station to station, and the format didn’t adapt to the signal as on other sets.” I am not sure what this comment means, but my Panasonic has a consistent image and does automatically adapt to signal changes as output through my Comcast box.

You cannot go wrong with this TV for the price. Amazon service was, as usual, fabulous.
